SEGLVIK

NORWAY
Seglvik, our basecamp is located on a Peninsula, North of Kvaenangen Fjord in the region of Troms and Finnmark in Norway. Way above the Arctic circle and only accessible by Boat.
At 70° North, far away from all, this is the place where Sami herders come each year with their reindeers so as to let them graze the salty Arctic grass during summer before their long migration back to the forests of Lapland.
Our little island is at 12 NM (nautical miles) from the first village called Skjervoy, where you will have some “civilization” as here on seglvik we have no shops, no hotels or else. Only a stupendous landscape and the sea!
But of course, if anything requiring medical assistance happens, we have medical training and equipment, as well as a defibrillator station here on the island and if you need sanitary repatriation, ferry and helicopter come in no time to your rescue.
Arctic fine cuisine using all what Nordic wildlife can offer, land or sea food, organic meat and fish.
The fish is caught in our Fjord: salmons are smoked at home or cod is dried by the norwegian way by hanging outside homes.
Reindeer graze the field of Seglvik in summer
We favor local products from here in the Arctic.
Once on our island, you will be living in a typical Norwegian shared house.
For your enjoyment we also propose jacuzzi, sauna, Sami tent (Lavu) with a bonfire, to wait in warmly and cozy waiting for the Northern Lights to dance in the sky…
Each morning you will gather in the “Whale House” where fresh bread, pancakes or waffles will be served for breakfast or Tea time.
The Lavvu will be the center, during your stay, of social meetings like for presentations and dinner, having a drink or just sharing experiences and photos taken during your day at sea.
As for animal lovers, apart from the sea creatures, you can maybe see sea otters, white tailed eagles, lemmings, white ermines…
